Learn the tricks of the trade for collecting, cleaning and storing native plant seeds for your home garden or to share!
Harvesting your own seeds saves you money and gives you more variety in your garden. Marlene Smith, president of Wild Ones Chesapeake Bay, and Molly Moore, president of Southern Maryland Audubon, will teach you the difference between shakers, beaks, cone heads, and more. Weather permitting, we will collect seeds from the Front Yard Garden, then will guide you in cleaning and packaging seeds to take home. We welcome beginners as well as experienced seed collectors.
This program is made possible with support from Wild Ones Chesapeake Bay, Southern Maryland Audubon, and Friends of St. Clements Bay.
