Green Burial is a growing national movement that supports environmentally sound ways of returning the body to the earth in a natural, simple and dignified way.

Green Burial conserves resources, reduces carbon emissions, protects workers’ health, and preserves or restores natural habitats. Green Burials  also use non-toxic and biodegradable caskets or shrouds, and the body is not embalmed.

The presentation will include images of families and friends gathering for green burials to give a feel for the simplicity and beauty that is possible when choosing this option.

We will cover stories of the Green Burial Movement in Maryland and broader trends in the US will also be covered. In addition, we will compare green burial with conventional burial practices and flame cremation. The presentation will be followed by a discussion and Q&A session.

The Green Burial Association of Maryland is a 501-c3 nonprofit dedicated to educating people and to advocate for Green Burial options in the State of Maryland.
