Join us as we discuss the often unrecognized and undervalued efforts of Black women in the civil rights movements in St. Mary's County.

Lifelong countians Everlyn Holland, Alonzo Gaskin, and Janice Walthour will share their perspectives on the past and present with moderator Merideth Taylor. People in a county long known as “a rural backwater” have continued over centuries to strive for civil and human rights. Learn about key moments and actions, from freedom lawsuits and emancipation, to citizen political action groups and desegregation in health care and education. 


This is a walk-in program. Registration not necessary unless you would like a follow up email.
