Join us to discuss a different cozy mystery on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Leonardtown Library. Be ready to talk about a genre that puts us all at ease while keeping us on our toes.
We've found ourselves Between a Flock and a Hard Place with Donna Andrews (2024) as the 35th installment in the Meg Langslow series (aka "The Bird Mysteries").
Meg is trying to keep the peace with her neighbors the Smetkamps' and their home renovation crew. They've won a makeover to make their historic mansion a bit more "modern." The crew is getting very close to trampling on every clause of the county's building code, when a flock of feral turkeys decide to make the Smetkamps' yard their new home (or are relocated there by someone unknown). The turkeys are huge, territorial, crank, aggressive, and impossible to move. Meg does what she can to calm her neighbors, the crew, and the turkeys, but her plan doesn't pan out when the removal group stumbles upon the body of Mrs. Smetkamp. The killer tried to frame the turkeys, but Meg, the Chief, and the Sheriff are not fooled. Together, they must figure out what really happened to Mrs. Smetkamp and what to do with all these turkeys!
