Join us to discuss a different cozy mystery on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Leonardtown Library. Be ready to talk about a genre that puts us all at ease while keeping us on our toes.
This month's selection is Death of a Smuggler by M. C. Beaton with R. W. Green (2025), which is #37 in the Hamish Macbeth series.
The tourists have finally gone from Hamish's cozy Highland village of Lochbdubh and winter is about to set in. His new love, Claire, is keen to take a holiday together, but Hamish is suddenly assigned a new constable, presenting him with both a surprise and a secret. However, the secret becomes the least of his problems when a family appears in the village looking to settle a score with a mysterious missing man. A murdered woman's body is soon discovered along with a link to this same man, but no one can figure out their true identities. To Hamish's horror, he finds himself working the case with his sworn enemy Detective Chief Inspector Blair. With a growing list of suspects, increasingly bewildering circumstances and Blair hindering him at every turn, Hamish must find the murderer before anyone else falls victim. So much for taking a relaxing holiday!
