New York Times bestselling author Lisa Wingate will join us in a Zoom Meeting to discuss her newest book "The Book of Lost Friends".

For those of you who enjoyed Lisa Wingate's previous novel, Before We Were Yours, you will be thrilled to meet the author virtually to discuss her newest novel, The Book of Lost Friends, recently published in April.  After the Civil War, actual "Lost Friends" advertisements appeared in Southern newspapers as newly freed slaves searched for friends and family members who had been sold away.  Ms. Wingate was told about these advertisements by one of her readers.  Wingate was captivated by the advertisements in such a way that she just had to create a story from them.  Using copies of the real advertisements in the novel, Wingate connects students living in 20th century Louisiana to their 19th century post Civil War past.  This novel is told from the perspectives of a teacher trying to engage her students in 1987 Louisiana and a freed slave in 1875 Louisiana desperately trying to find her family.  In her customary form, Lisa Wingate has written a book that you won't want to put down once you start reading it.
