Join us to discuss a different cozy mystery on the 3rd Thursday of each month at the Leonardtown Library. Be ready to talk about a genre that puts us all at ease while keeping us on our toes.
It's a new year, which means it's time for a new murder! We'll be starting off 2025 with Jessa Maxwell's The Golden Spoon (2023), a standalone mystery that's a little cozy and a little thrilling all at the same time.
Each summer, six aspiring bakers descend upon the grounds of Grafton, the leafy and imposing Vermont Estate that is both the filming site for "Bake Week" and the childhood home of the show's famous host, celebrated baker Betsy Martin. However, the best-selling cookbook author and so-called "America's Grandmother" is not as warm off-screen as she is on, although no one needs to know that about her. She has always demanded perfection, and gotten it with a smile, but this year something is off. Things go awry as soon as the baking competition begins. At first, it's merely sabotage - sugar replaced with salt, a burner turned too high - but when a body is discovered, everyone is a suspect.
