Speaker - Brian C. Smithson, Assistant Professor of Anthropology at St. Mary's College of Maryland
Brian C. Smithson is a cultural anthropologist specializing in West African audiovisual cultures and religions. He is completing a book on the role of Yorùbá indigenous religion in Bénin's movie industry, drawing from his experience as an apprentice video filmmaker and co-producer of a Yorùbá-language movie. Dr. Smithson earned his Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology at Duke University and has taught at several prestigious institutions.
